Recipe: Hormone-Friendly Granola
An all-time-favorite snack of mine: granola. Not only is this delicious treat perfect for satisfying your snack cravings, but it's also packed with hormone-friendly ingredients to support your health and wellbeing from the inside out. So, grab your mixing bowls and let's get cooking!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup organic sprouted rolled oats (I like this one) — **exclude for grain-free granola**
- 1 cup chopped raw nuts, chopped (walnuts, almonds, cashews, etc)
- 1/2 cup raw hulled pumpkin seeds
- 1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds
- 1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
- 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup or honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of sea salt
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and shredded coconut.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the melted coconut oil, maple syrup or honey, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sea salt.
- Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients and stir until everything is well coated.
- Spread the granola mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the granola is golden brown and fragrant.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely before stirring in any optional add-ins.
- Store your grain-free granola in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks, or in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
Enjoy your homemade granola as a topping for yogurt or smoothie bowls (recipe here), as a crunchy snack on its own, or sprinkled over your favorite fruit for a nutritious and satisfying treat.
I often opt for grain-free granola for most clients because grains can sometimes exacerbate symptoms such as insulin resistance and inflammation. By opting for grain-free alternatives like nuts, seeds, and coconut, we can help stabilize blood sugar levels, support hormone balance, and promote overall wellbeing.
Plus, this granola is packed with nutrient-dense ingredients that provide essential vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats to nourish your body and keep you feeling energized and satisfied throughout the day. From heart-healthy almonds and walnuts to antioxidant-rich pumpkin seeds and coconut, every bite is a celebration of wholesome, delicious goodness, without the additives of store-bought granola.
So, whether you're looking for a nutritious breakfast option, a satisfying snack, or a crunchy topping for your favorite dishes, this grain-free granola is sure to hit the spot. And the best part? You can feel good knowing that you're nourishing your body with wholesome ingredients that support your journey to wellness.
Here's to nourishing your body, embracing delicious, wholesome foods, and thriving in your beautiful, resilient body.
With all my love and support,
